Job Descriptions

  • Our client is looking for a Regional Research Development and Innovation Director who will be based in Sudan. Working for the leading food producer in Sudan and is developing and producing: (e.g. Flour, Pasta, Bakery Ingredients), Dairy products (Capo Dairy products) Beverages (Coca-Cola, Juices, Water) and Feed products.
  • The selected candidate will build a brand-new Innovation / R&D department and design, create & develop new products that enable competitive edge for the Food division. The responsibility will include research, design, and development along with marketing, manufacturing, finance, procurement, and QC / QA.
  • Innovation, Research & Development, Food design experience in the Flour or Cereal Industry is a MUST.

Main Tasks

  • Will have full operational responsibility of the products development and maintenance, technical services and research related to the milling, bakery, pasta, powdered beverages, and pulses businesses. In fact, you are the owner of our recipes and intellectual property (IP)
  • Oversee product development and lead the NPD team
  • Can work in a variety of settings depending on the type of products being developed
  • Create, initiate, and contribute to innovation-optimization projects across the group
  • Keep records on the various procedures / designs that have been tried
  • Present new ideas to the stakeholders
  • Prepare a cost analysis on the development of a new & optimized products
  • Research scientific publications (patents and papers) in order to make sure using the best technologies available, and is able to produce protected IP
  • Keeps up to date with the latest trends in market, merchandise, ingredients, and technologies
  • Have good problem-solving abilities
  • Have excellent leadership abilities and is responsible for the HR cycle (appraisal, assessment, and coaching)
  • Can respect and meet deadlines

Qualifications and Experience

  • At least a Master’s degree in Food Science-Technology or Chemistry or Microbiology, PHD is a plus.
  • Must be at a Director level. Min. of 12 years of relevant working experience, preferably in a similar position within food, FLOUR or CEREAL industry experience is a MUST.
  • Innovation, Research & Development, Food design experience in the Flour or Cereal Industry is a MUST.
  • Innovations, Renovations and Optimisation projects together with the affiliated disciplines in the company.
  • You are result driven with people-oriented leadership skills. You also have a great sense of responsibility and show (hands-on) initiative in your work.
  • You can be characterized as a flexible, responsible, and creative person, with a great sense of responsibility and are able to work under challenging circumstances.
  • You are fluent in English, both in writing and speaking. Arabic would be a plus.
  • Best-in market salary and expat package.
